I was born and bred in Weedon and have seen many changes in the village. Over the years I have been involved with most of the local community groups helping organise their events.

In recent years I became a trustee of the Weedon Sports Association and have been involved with the Weedon Weekender from the start in 2012 with the Jubilee celebrations – there are those of you that will also remember me as the Village Cryer and yes, if you are a dog owner, I am the guy with a pocket full of dog treats!

Being involved with the fabric of the village for so long I am privileged to have been accepted onto the Parish Council, willing to serve the village and making our community a friendlier and more enjoyable place to live.

Outside my other duties, spare time is spent watching Northampton Town Football Club.

I have lived in Weedon since July 2014 when a new job meant relocation from Derbyshire. Weedon Bec was the ideal village for us to relocate to being halfway between my husbands work in Lutterworth and our children and grandchildren in Milton Keynes.

We also knew Weedon would be great with its many amenities, a band of local bell ringers, a bridge group and local country side walks for us and our three dogs.

Having become aware of the Parish Council through friendships formed and having scaled back on supply teaching, I felt this was my ideal opportunity to help and serve the community in which I now feel very at home

I joined the council in 2015 as a co-opted member.

I am retired, married with two children and four grandchildren. I have lived in the village for 5 years, following 11 years living in Spain.

I feel very much a part of the community. Weedon is a great place to live as was demonstrated when it won 2015 village of the year competition. This was the result of a community working together to improve Weedon village and I would like to play my part in the future by representing the community's views on the parish council.

I came to live in Weedon in the year 2000 and have always enjoyed being part of our community. I first joined the Parish Council in 2003 and stayed for 10 years holding the posts of Vice Chairman and Chairman and becoming involved in many projects during that time. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the group which ran the Village Fete for 7 years which took place in Croft Way Playing Field – some people may remember the highlights over the years. Following that, I started the Weedon Art Group in 2012 and continued running the group for 7 years. I have now been re-elected to the Parish Council and am Chairman of the Cemetery & Allotment Group and a member of the Infrastructure Group. I continue to be involved in the village with particular interest in allotments, environment and the interests of the elderly in the community.

Originally from Bedfordshire, I moved to Weedon with my now wife in 2005.

The majority of my working life was spent in the food industry, at various locations in the UK.

I can honestly say I enjoy living in Weedon more than anywhere else that I have lived.

Now being retired, I have time to hopefully give something back to the village through my membership of the Parish Council.

Cllr. Ann Ranshaw

I've lived in Weedon since 2009 and joined the Parish Council in March 2011 at the suggestion of another councillor. There happened to be a vacancy when I went to a meeting to ask about a planning application. I thought long and hard about joining because I had been a Parish Clerk & Town Councillor elsewhere and understood the work involved.

Having joined, I quickly realised that my previous experience could best be used in planning. I am now retired but my career has been in the social policy and welfare sector including running a Citizens Advice Bureau, planning development of social services in a neighbouring county and jointly working with Milton Keynes health authority to develop new projects and services for older people. My first degree had been in Geography but as my 2 daughters became more independent I went back to University to take a Masters Degree and became a social worker ending my employed working life managing a child protection team.

I have a strong commitment to social justice. The Parish Council is a way of putting this into practice. Heading up the Neighbourhood Plan steering group was an opportunity to enable more people to have a say in the future of the village, question what goes on and help to make Weedon Bec fit for future challenges and generations.

Ann is a member of: Policy & Asset Review Group, Planning Committee and is Chairman of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.

I have lived in Weedon Bec since 2019, one of my two sons lives here with his family.

I am involved with the village Food Bank and was part of the team which started it. As part of that team, my particular role is to look after the administration and publicity.

For over twenty years I have been a Licensed Lay Minister in the Church of England. I am licensed to work with the churches in Weedon Bec, Dodford and Everdon.

I am a retired computer software and database developer having worked in medical research, health service administration and financial software.

Between 2004 and 2011 I worked in Tanzania supporting the Anglican church there in making better use of computing facilities, and in the development of their new University. I retain my links with Tanzania.

I have lived in Weedon Bec since 2007, joining the Parish Council in 2016.

During my time on the Council my main area of focus has been the improvement of the parks and recreational space within the village. In 2018-2019, I played a lead role in the project to upgrade the facilities at Croft Way Playing Field including the new path, fence, play equipment and seating upgrade. I am a member of the Pocket Park team and regularly help with the ongoing maintenance.

Working with Weedon Bec Primary School, I assisted in the creation of the Junior Parish Council. I was a representative on the village's successful 'Northamptonshire Best Village' competition entry in 2018 and on the group that created the programme of events to commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1.

I regularly create Parish Council content and posts for social media as well as contributing articles to the Village Newsletter.
