Jubilee in the village is taking shape. As well as ceremonies to tie in with national celebrations, several local events are being planned.
There will be a village wide invitation to join a 'Picnic in the Park' on Jubilee Field during the afternoon of Saturday 4th June. Village residents will be invited to bring a picnic, blankets and chairs down to the field to spend the afternoon celebrating Our Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The visitors centre at the depot will be hosting Royal themed events and displays to commemorate our Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
To help residents celebrate the Jubilee weekend, the Parish Council is offering to produce a free booklet to promote all the activities hosted by local businesses and groups. Advertising space will be free and the booklet will be delivered to every household in the village at the end of May. If you are a local businesses or group and want to be a part of this booklet, contact the Parish Clerk for information on this free advertising opportunity.
Commemorative Bookmark for the Queen's Jubilee
To celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the Parish Council would like to give every child in the village, who is primary school age or younger, a special commemorative bookmark.
Towards the end of May, members of the Parish Council visited Weedon Bec Primary School, Stepping Stones, Weedon Bec Pre-School and Piglets to present these commemorative bookmarks. If you live in the village and your children are primary school aged or below but do not attend any of these establishments please get in touch with the Parish Clerk via email weedonbecpc@btinternet.com and we can reserve one for you. The Parish Council need to receive your requests by 2nd June.
