Serving the people of Weedon Bec

Weedon Bec Pocket Park is a beautifully tranquil area of land containing a mixture of mature trees and shrubs, a pond, benches, a bug hotel, log piles and a circular path. Uniquely situated next to the River Nene, our Pocket Park offers diverse environments and micro-habitats for wildlife and plants.

Weedon Bec Pocket Park was developed on land owned by the Parish Council and was opened in June 2013 and run by a management committee consisting of George Newbrook, Fred Kay, Ray Charlett, Steve Corson and Pamela Biss (apologies if other names omitted). The site is located behind the church/allotments and runs alongside the Puddlebank footpath, between the canal and rail bridges (Bridge Street and Church Street). Access is off Puddlebank footpath. The site is bounded by the footpath, the railway, the River Nene and Church Street allotments.

The Pocket Park has steps as its entry point, off Puddlebank, and a circular footpath around the site. There is a small bridge going over a ditch area which has run off from the village to the river and a small path, leading to a seat which overlooks the river.

The circular footpath contains a small pond and there are two seats around this area.

The Parish Council took over the full management of this in January 2020. There is also a managed bee hive in the locked area between the park and the allotments.

There is an information board located near the bottom of the steps which gives seasonal information on what you could see in the park.
